\r\n\r\nThe family and the Brethren of The Glenlyon Lodge No. 346 S.C., endured another great loss with the ascension to the Grand Lodge above of another of its illustrious Brethren, Brother Samuel E. Stewart P.M. Brother Samuel was initiated as a member of The Glenlyon Lodge No. 346 S.C. on May 13, 1987, passed to the Second Degree on September 9, 1987, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on March 9, 1988. On December 9, 1998, he was elevated toRight Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the Administrative Year 1998/1999. He was also the First Principal of The Glenlyon Royal Arch Chapter No. 62, Past Worshipful Commander Noah, Most Excellent Commander and President of The Glenlyon Lodge and Council, Chapter 62, Thrice Illustrious Master of The Glenlyon Cryptic Council, and Past Wise Sovereign of the St Andrews Rose Croix Chapter.\r\n\r\nIn his private avocation, Bro Samuel Stewart was a well respected career Civil Servant who entered the Public Service in 1957 as an accounting clerk in the Post and Telegraphs Department. Due to his exceptional work, he eventually ascended to several senior positions in the Public Service, including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing, Comptroller General of Jamaica and Post Master General of Jamaica. Due to the high esteem with which he was held by his contemporaries and superiors, he was appointed to serve on the boards of many public bodies, including the Government Saving and Banks Clerks Co-operative Credit Union, the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League ltd, the National Housing Trust and the Caribbean Housing Finance Corporation.\r\n\r\nBro Samuel Stewart is especially remembered as a well respected President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association, an entity (which was very dear to him) whose goal and objectives are to secure better working conditions for civil servants.\r\n\r\nSadly, the Lord decided that this venerable and well loved Brother was needed in The Grand Lodge Above. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorna, his children, Michael, Lincoln, Richard, John and David. Brothers, Dennis and Joseph, Sister, Donna, relatives and grandchildren. He is equally missed by the Brethren of The Glenlyon Lodge to whom he gave 27 years of exceptional and fraternal service. He was to be honoured at the October Regular Meeting of the Lodge, but alas, it was not to be. However, the Brethren may find comfort in the fact that The Glenlyon Lodge was blessed to have had this outstanding Jamaican patriot both as a Brother and a revered member.\r\n\r\nHis name will be forever etched in the annals of The Glenlyon Lodge.\r\n\r\nMay his soul rest in peace.
